Maxim awakens after an interminable amount of time to find that his soul has been placed into a near-perfect recreation of his body. He seem to be in a silken boudoir, but the Demonic appearances of the women around him leads him to the conclusion that he has been dragged to hell. Gehenna, specifically. Maxim's suspicions are confirmed as he is forced into an audience with Ira Sathana, a powerful Archdemon with whom he formed a contract during the battle for The Palace of the Firebird. This embodiment of Wrath offers Maxim a second chance at life in the mortal world, should he agree to enact her will alongside pursuit of his own objectives. With a physical contract set before him, writ in blood and listing a series of names, Maxim agrees and signs his own, thus pledging himself to Sathana's work.
