Watching the morning battles unfold, Knight Commander Maxim was largely unaware of the faceless, maid-like creature slowly approaching him through the crowds. Aotsuki Tsukamoto, or more notably Kagami was more alert, and spotted the interloper before she arrived. Looking through Kagami's legendary mirror, Aotsuki spotted a previously-hidden Gashadokuro lounging on the eaves behind Hōjō Ujiteru. And, while that was frightening enough, the creature approaching Maxim registered in the mirror not as a featureless maid, but rather as a four-legged creature akin to a stag, covered in bloody red pools and eyes alike. Shaken, Aotsuki sent a mental warning to Maxim as his admirer finally drew close enough to speak.

The faceless woman first attracted Maxim's attention with a compliment. He had such a fine sword, she enthused about Hokkuken, so he must be a very great hunter. When Maxim answered that this was not entirely untrue, the creature bluntly explained that she was, in fact, Paseguru Kamui, primordial goddess of the hunt. She had sensed that the Knight Commander was on some kind of hunt of his own, and so wished to present him with her blessing.   Wary, but interested, Maxim asked what that might entail. In response, Paseguru conveyed that they would need to go on some kind of hunt together to seal the pact. A wild boar in the forests outside the arena, for example, should do just fine. As a goddess of the hunt, it would behoove her if his hunt went smoothly, so she would ask for nothing else in return for her blessing. At this, both Maxim and Haures put the "woman" under their scrutiny, but to both it appeared that she was speaking without guile.   Although still cautious, Maxim agreed that he would go on this symbolic hunt with the Kamui, but not until after the matches for the day had ended. Finding this satisfactory, the shadowy creature agreed that they would meet in the forests after the event, and then appeared to melt, falling into a sticky black shadow on the ground that quickly vanished.
