Forges of Gjerde

The ancient Forges of Gjerde are famous for producing tools and weapons from metals and Aeroresin. Located in the Western Otness Mountains, the forges are hidden underground and though many have heard of these legendary forges, the exact location is only known to a few. A significant amount of treasure hunters have died from permafrost or starvation before finding the entrance to the forges.

History

The forges of Gjerde are truly ancient. The forges were founded by the dwarves originally living in these mountains long before the Great Old Ones rose to power. Originally intended to keep weapons from their enemies in case of a siege, the forges were so well hidden that none of the Old Ones succeeded in finding them, and to this day, the exact location is a well kept secret. It is one of the few places where descendants from the original inhabitants of Tunoda survived during the long reign of the Old Ones before the First Alliance arrived.

Architecture

There are two entrances to the forges. One is only known to those who have visited before and can only be reached from memory as there is absolutely no signage and it is strictly prohibited to share the location with others. The second entry is findable through some small posts pointing a first time visitor in the right direction. Before the actual forges are reached however, the first timer must succeed in a series of challenges, called the The Trail of Trials. This elaborate trial was designed to restrict access to those worthy of the powerful weapons created by the forges.
