Honourable Guilds of Men at Arms

Most nations in Turian do not have large standing military forces. Quite the opposite, the primary source of military power is often some form of feudal system or mercenaries.
The rich and powerful especially rely on mercenaries for anything from guarding their property to escorting their caravans.

A lot of schools, academies, teachers and organisations have provided training for professional men at arms over the millennia. The Honourable Guilds of Men at Arms (HGMA) has provided those and their potential employers with services for almost as long. The HGMA does judgement when the parties have disputes, they also accredit the curriculum for many of the trainers and schools.

Employers and mercenaries can make inquiries about potential contracts and the reputation of potential business partners.

For the last few hundred years some nations have started to expand their standing armies. But even today many do not train their soldiers themselves but recruit from accredited institutes. While other nations have started to train for themselves it is most likely that their academies and schools accredit themselves.

The HGMA is an umbrella organisation to various guilds that are active all over Turian, much like Arcane Guilds of which it is a founding member.
