Mimi: After a long long looking, there appears to be a reason (found by Miss) that show that one of the reasons for the Forbidding of Guardian training or something or other was to do with the number of people getting sick from them.

Mimi: Through body water. So mostly Nymphs and Mermaids. But mostly Nymphs cause we can be water whereas Mermaids can just move water. That's also why Mermaids still have artifacts and Naiads generally don't. Even our stories don't mention artifacts directly.

Symptoms

Mimi: There are multiple symptoms of Artifact Sickness

• Dry eyes & blurriness - but that happens anyways when you read too much
• Rapid heartbeat - I get this when excited anyways so...
• Bluish discolouration of the skin - this is hard for Naiads cause if you look blue, you just haven't tranformed properly. Like what is your blood doing? Have you made it proper blood? Mine is not quite red. Um, my legs are just water right now anyways... it's more comfy
• Fatigue - AB is gone and taking some of my energy so this is gonna happen anyways. plus how many things cause people to be tired?
• Headaches - a lot of people have told me that I cause headaches. Not for myself though...
• Nausea - I don't get this until now... Naiads can easy sweep whatever out of them that causes pain or sickness, so unless its this sickness Mermaids can get it from eating poison like too much Magic Moss ... eh, I want it but I don't feel like it ... whyyyyyyy
• Diarreah - Um. This is normal for a water being when in anything other than pure water or fully Human form.
• Liver impairment - any of the magics basically prevent this from sickness. Only old age and physical harm can really do this otherwise.
• Kidney impairment - as above. Ew. I can feel things move that are me but not me and why do I feel like I have holes in me???
• Blood acidity level changes - this is fun to do *acid hole*
• Convulsions - AB didn't look good when this happened to him. I hope he is okay ..o (ink smudge)
• Impaired conciousness - it's kinda like when you're eyes are blurry. But its inside your head.
• Difficulty breathing - when this happens frequently, that's when you know something is wrong. Sometimes its just because you forgot if you are in a water form or a land form that you can use the wrong breathing for a moment.
• Joint pain - this is why it's more comfortable to be a water puddle. Except I feel I'd lose my mind if I went fully water.
• Hallucinations - I don't have any yet. But my dreams at night are different to before. Since getting paired artifacts with AB. Since he left to train. Since I was unable to feel like a whole person. I'm all squiggly and it's uncomfotable.

Treatment

Mimi: I am in isolation at Turien University. Cause it's close to the Council and the Elevator so there is a lot of residue magic I can sit under. A lot of magic is being pumped into me. I think it's about time for someone to come again.

Mimi: KLO-Mei Mei and some of the others in our team found that there are cures for most people. There are magic pills that help, though the recipe to make them has been outlawed and hidden, it's not Forbidden. They have allowed Sarah to make some for just in case so I won't put anyone else in this strange pain? Is it pain? I don't know anymore.

Mimi: The other way is through Forbidding. There are stories of Naiads that stop sometimes. We don't remeber their relations or their names. And if you count the number of stories and the number of Naiads, there are inconsistencies. Not just because i am a Naiad, but something inside of me is saying that something went funny somewhere. We can only lose a story if it has been Forbidden. We can only keep a story the same over generations if it has been Forbidden to change it. We can only change a story telling drastically is it has been Forbidden to tell the steps in between.

Prevention

Mimi: If you notice someone has condition, make sure they get treated quick.

Mimi: If they be an artifact holder - get them to attune properly or take away the artifact. They will have withdrawal syndrome, but then can reattune properly. Once accepted by an artifact one can never not be with it completely - the withdrawals are from being so far apart, but not from cutting off the artifact entirely. It's like with a diet - you can stop eating certain foods but you can't stop eating entirely.

Mimi: Also, Forbiddings. They affect so much when you look into it. Why were we allowed to take away stuff from our world with such permanence?

Epidemiology

Mimi: If a Naiad falls too much into a puddle - or become their seed or droplets then others might breth in or drink the Naiad. Normally you can get yourself back or |||||| but this is basically the only sickness we have that can be spread to others if they ingest us. That is why I'm mostly isolated. At least when I'm not being treated or in training.

History

Mimi: I can't find when it first started. No one knows. I am not allowed to go to The Underground anyways so I can't look around either.

Mimi: Teagrin had a look. The Northern Warrior Mermaids seemed to have been at the start of a large outbreak. But Delusional Isle came up after that. They must have had Naiads - there are descriptions of names that sound like Naiads, but Naiads aren't really mentioned directly. Not in the places that can be read anyways.

Mimi: Teagrin found more on Delusional Isle. The winds and waves surrounding the tiny prison island give hallucinations to the prisoners inside. Not many prisoners leave the Island again. If they do, they are changed, but, apart from some colour changes, hallucinations and some physical injuries, the only other thing is that they have a higher concentration of magic than when they went in. Though some are sent there because they have too much magic to begin with. And are too powerful in society to warrent death, but too dangerous to let them run around Turien on 'good behaviour boundings'.

Mimi: Taegrin says its not really related, but we can't just memory swipe others anymore. That's why criminals can go to the Punishment Tower and Delusional Isle now. Or work in Mine 81 or The Long Factory.
But what if memory swiping is why we had such a big sickness? Like, if they forgot they were attuning to an artifact, but then they were ingested before they were fully cured?
