The Wastelands
The Wastelands are an inhospitable region, covering nearly a third of the Turien continent (the Swamplands make the rest of that third). Magic Wars raged over the area leaving only desert and badlands in their wake.
Although Beast-kin used to live across these areas, they had migrated to the plains where Humans live many centuries ago. Now only Dragon-kin fly through the skies of the Wastelands, with their mountain and cave homes marking the border between the Plains and the Wastelands. At least, as far as the rest of the continent is concerned. Older races may remember the tales of Harpies and hope to not have to deal with them again. Harpies, however, have not died out over time, even within such barren lands. They are why Dragon-kin still fly through the skies of the Wastelands and why they live where they do.
The Cantina tribe exists in the northwestern corner of the Wastelands. They are a mysterious group that do not interact with the other inhabitants of Turien. Only because a Dragon-kin flew over a couple of Cantina were their existence known to someone outside of them. Only through this Dragon-kin forgetting about the tribe after reporting to the Council of Turien, who has since kept the information hidden, have the tribe remained hidden to the rest of Turien.
Geography
Between the northern plains (where many Beast-kin tribes live) and the western cliffs of Turien exits the badlands. There used to be a massive lake in the centre of the badlands In the first couple of Magic Wars, the lake's water was heavily used by the Mermaids and Naiads. By the third Magic War, other races had destroyed any water sources in order to limit the water magic of the Mermaids and Naiads.
To the west is the desert (between the western shore of Turien, the badlands above and the Swamplands below). Nothing of import, value, or interest can be found here. Elimination of almost all flora slowed the Nymphs during the Magic Wars.
