Lume
I have walked this world for nigh on five centuries now, and I am no closer to understanding it than when I began.Lume is an old world, forged by the gods countless millennia ago. In this time it has seen numerous upheavals, the most notable of which mark the beginnings and ends of Ages of Creation and Destruction.
Name and etymology
The exact origin of the name Lume is uncertain, but most scholars agree that it was derived from the ancient elven word luume, meaning "sky-glow". Luume was also used to mean sunset or sunrise, and eventually became "the place between sunrise and sunset". It was later adopted by human cultures who simplified the spelling to lume and used it to directly refer to the world. Variations of Lume can be found in many cultures worldwide, suggesting that it may have originated during the Second Age while the gods still walked amongst mortals.Chronology
Formation
Lume was formed at the end of the First Age of Creation by Yaradicil, Grand God of Civilization. It was further shaped by Karas, Grand God of War, at the beginning of the First Age of Destruction. How long this process took is unclear, so current calendrical systems designate the entirety of the First Age as "Year 0".
