Fifth Imperatrix Oribella Neriphine calls for a grand crusade into the Underdark.

Possibly the first manifestation of her madness, Imperatrix Neriphine's obsession with the mythical dark elves led her to call upon her people to commit to a massive crusade in the name of Reina. It required an unprecedented commitment of money and manpower, including a sizable amount of Sun Elven warriors. The Sunlit Shields contributed heavily to the crusade, which led to their own downturn in the following decades.   Some historians mark this as the beginning of the Imperial demise, while others point to the Lost Crusade itself. Either way, the fall of the Imperium can clearly be pinpointed to this decade.
