Crowned Knights

An order of knights appointed by the King of People. In times of peace after the war with Kortia centuries ago, their descendants slowly turned to politics and trade. Even though the title is hereditary, nowadays most use it in two aspects. Firstly, it refers to Crowned Knights appointed before the war. They are honored, and in some places even worshipped. Secondly, it's used as a name for the highest circle of supporters of monarchy. Most lords today seek their heritage among Crowned Knights who fought in the war, as they are the most "sacred". Few may even be in fact related to them, but the rest resorts to bribes and forgery to achieve their "lineage". Traditionally, Crowned Knights discarded their names and took new ones, consisting of a color and an animal, in honour of the founder and first King of People, Purple Heron.
