Enchanting

While enchanting items with magical properties has been done ever since the first mages existed, the process was mainly done by professional enchanters, transmuters, etc. However, thanks to the general progression of knowledge as well as the destruction of the Holy Grail in the year 600, things have managed to accelerate in the realms of magical enchantment.   Enchanting items is now a practice that certain people with crafting skills can accomplish and learn how to do. Blacksmiths and fletchers are some examples.   For players in the world of Tynaria Alt, the enchantment process is multi-step.   First, a catalyst must be acquired. Catalysts may be found by defeating certain enemies or by harvesting them from designated creatures. These catalysts usually take the form of a crystal, gemstone, or even organ.

Once a catalyst is acquired, the player will need to take some time to study the item. An Arcana check totaling 25 is required, with the analyzing process taking 4 hours. When the catalyst is fully analyzed, the player will need to gather materials for the enchantment. Materials can include special paints, metals, inks, etc that can all be purchased in any major market area.   For enchanting process, this can be done with artisan's tools like smithing tools and leatherworking tools, depending on the enchantment that the catalyst is attached to. For 6 hours a day, the player can use the artisan's tool to make the item. Roll a skill check with the tools and record the results. Once the goal number is reached, the enchantment process is completed.

During the enchanting process, there is always a chance of failure. When rolling the tool check, a minimum score is expected to be reached (modifiers included). If that minimum score isn't hit, there is a 5% chance for the catalyst to break and become unusable. If the score is more than 5 points below the minimum number, it's 50%.
