Imperial Interregnum
Emperor Haestein of House Ischildt dies childless and without a named heir. Several of Haestein's generals attempt to claim the throne in Førstazar just as large numbers of humans begin to migrate south into imperial lands.
The Interregnum lasts for over 50 years before House Aranore establishes Athas as the new Imperial capital and defeats the last rival claimants. The effects of the Interregnum were lasting and humiliating for the empire, most of their land west of the Falbred river was lost, including their ancient capital of Førstazar. It would take some time before the Imperium was ready to even attempt to reconquer any of the lost lands.

The Conflict
Prelude
Emperor Haestein of House Ischildt dies childless and without a named heir. Several of Haestein's generals attempt to claim the throne in Førstazar just as large numbers of humans begin to migrate south into imperial lands.
Outcome
House Aranore wins the Throne. The Imperium is severely weakened and several 'bandit kingdoms' are established in the west of Tyr. The Taenic Free-Cities are allowed to secede from the empire after a brief rebellion and form their own independent bloc.
Aftermath
What's left of the Empire is now ruled from Athas. Several attempts to retake Førstazar fail and the kingdoms to the west become more entrenched. The Taenic Free-Cities maintain their hard-fought independence from the throne but maintain good trading relations.
