Session 16

General Summary

Party left Caravan Outpost for Estha Bugail's house in Prenham with Lorelei in tow. Ella stayed at her mother's house. Party introduced themselves to Estha who explained that something had broken into her back garden and attacked her rats. She had two 'free-roamers' Nana and Squeak as well as four more in the large enclosure in her garden (Bubbles, Baby, Toto and Rusty). The party found tracks leading into the forest from a section of damaged fence and followed them, using Caithaken to track whatever had caused the damage. Eventually came to a clearing where the party came across a downy fur like material covering what appeared to be a large owl pellet containing the skeleton of a large rodent. Gnemo guessed that the creature or creatures were an Owlbear and recommended heading back to Estha's house and laying a trap.

Arriving back to the house, Wisk let Estha know that they'd found one of her rats dead. She cried. Rest of party then arrived (Wisk had gone ahead), comforted Estha and set about laying their trap. After dark, the family of three owlbears (1 adult, 2 adolescents) returned and broke through the fence. The mother saw an illusory rat projected by Gnemo and pounced on it, triggering the party's ambush. Wisk, Helgret, Lorelei, Xhada and Felix ran out and attacked in the open (Lorelei leapt up to the top of the enclosure and fired from range) whilst Emmylou and Gnemo attacked from inside. The party dispatched the family of owlbears without too much issue, and collected the bounty of 5gp which was supplied to the party in coppers.

The party then proceeded to collect the following from the corpses of the Owlbears;

• Helgret skinned one of the adolescents and took paws in the hopes of creating some Tekko Kagi-like weapons from them
• emmylou took adolescent heads and put them in her bag of holding
• lorelei harvested four owlbear feathers
• gnemo and xhada took claws
• felix took one owlbear feather
