Session 8: Big Iron on his hip Report

General Summary

Stunned by the supposedly godkilling rifle they had just received, the party didn't even get a chance to process current events before magic struck again. After some quick thinking, the party found out they were bringing scryed upon but by who? And why did Catalina's mysterious book cause her to light up like a lighthouse when Erland casted detect magic? Maybe Karak could help? Well, except Karak had his own problem, turns out training Theodore post-wild magic awakening did not turn out well. Theodore had turned themselves into a plant and had basically trapped Karak in his own tower out of rage. His wild magic apparently was strong enough to cause permanent curses on those afflicted, and Karak did not want to tempt fate. So, he tricked the party to taking Theodore after rationalizing that it was their fault in the first place. karak eventually saw the fault in his actions, but Theodore himself was not convinced (he could still hear even as Petunias) so the party was still forced to deal with him. The party didn't exactly appreciate the distraction, and were willing to pay Sister Garaele a hefty 90gp fee to save Theodore. There was also some convincing and magical assistance to get his confidence back as well, and the party marched back to receive their reward and do what they actually wanted to do. They would then be accosted by a Bulette, but the real danger was in the night, when members of a gang known as "The Skull Boys" ambushed them at night. Riding on horses, they struck many near-mortal blows on the party and exhausted many of their resources. Erland has now realized he has made some powerful enemies with his respect to the dead, after a search of the body realizes he now has a sizable bounty on his head. Regardless, that will have to wait: the party has a castle to siege.
