Temple of Valinae
This is a temple and faction that I workshopped with the player who played Illiyana Theabrook. Many of the paladins here are Oath of Ancients and the Clerics are usually Life or Forge Clerics.
For many people, the temple of Valinae is a holy site to visit when you are traveling to offer worship and prayer. To the people that live here, the clerics and paladins of Valinae, it is their home, school and training ground. Many of the inhabitants have lived here since childhood. Those who bear the Water Lilly brand of Valinae, are often driven to protect this holy place and the country it resides in.
The Temple resides three days south of Welfall, along the western coast of Illendor. The temple of Valinae has docks where they store their ships, barracks for the paladins and clerics, and even a library where they can study magic and educate themselves.

History
Holidays
Winter Solstice - Kindle the Light. This solstice is observed by fasting in the preceding days. Because of this fast, members of our order are able to share their saved rations with nearby villagers in need. The morning of the solstice is spent joyfully delivering bread, wine and preserves to local townsfolk, schools as well as hospitals and jails. Any tithes in excess of what was needed last year are distributed among the needy as well.
Spring Equinox - Shelter the Light. The start of spring kicks off our holy season with a festival of lights. Beginning in the morning magical candles, lanterns and torches are laid throughout the temple. By dusk the number of lights will grow so many that you can see the temple windows beaming from miles out at sea. In an effort to symbolically push back the darkness, sundown is met with these lights being brought out from the temple. Candles are set into paper boats and floating lanterns. Archers send lit arrows into the sky in choreographed displays, wargames are played on the beach, and storytellers perform the histories until dawn.
Summer Solstice - Be the Light. Celebrated as the new year this day is filled with music and dancing and most importantly gift giving and small acts of kindness.
Fall Equinox - Preserve Your Light. This day is reserved to be one of quiet reflection. All classes and non-essential duties are excused for the day. Observers often spend this day in nature, reading writing, painting or otherwise considering the beauty of life.
Vasanta - (founders day) In late spring we observe the founding of our temple with three days of fasting, followed by eight days of feasting. These reverent holy days are accompanied with a yearly bell hanging tradition, in which each member of the order wears a bell starting on the first day of the feast. When they see the first water lily bloom of the summer they place the bell nearby to ring in and welcome Valinae’s presence.
