The Benefactors
I use this group as both a potential threat and driving point for plot threads involving Assassination or Alchemy guilds. Many alchemists that work with them provide theories and collections of data. Assassination guilds will work with the Benefactors in case people or other organizations are in need of 'course correction'.
Among the years, many secretive organizations have tried to take a foothold in Illendor and Elleryn. The Benefactors is one of those factions. Similar to the Illuminati or other behind the scenes controllers. The Benefactors came to power when a group of arcanists and scientists decided to put their combined intellectual prowess together to control countries and influence wars. Arma Lucis has clashed with them a number of times throughout their adventures. Primarily with the member Garon Sprigg. Garon used his resources and arcane knowledge to eventually create a team of clones, to rival and hopefully one day replace Arma Lucis.
Thus my previous campaign's primary rivals were created. Arma Tennebris.
Assets
They hold many secretive bunkers, islands and mage towers. The have many lords and other influential figures in their pocket as well. Using their lords financial resources, they are able to create many different arcane or scientific achievements in a short amount of time.
Bring change, by whatever means we deem fit.
