Ollmhor Sea

The Ollmhor Sea is vast and without end, at least that any Uclandian has ever seen.   It lies to the West, off the coast of Luingern Province.   For the most part, it is a calm and warmish body of water.   But once or twice every few ten-years or so, a horrific storm blows in off the water. The storm brings green-grey skies and waves almost as high as the Tomba trees down South in Glasgern Province and can bring swirling winds that will carry a fisherman off. In fact, there have been reports of entire fishing boats being swallowed by these storms, with any man or woman aboard lost forever.   Folk drawn to the water can catch enough fish to feed their families, and if they know the secrets of smoking can preserve enough to sell to the traveling traders. Most desired are the fat Salann Fish, the Oraiste Snakes that live beneath the waves, and the feisty Tuninn Fish that can feed a family for many days.   There are stories of brave explorers that set off in sturdy boats, determined to find the end of the Ollmhor Sea. But because none of them have ever returned to tell what lies beyond the horizon, it has been presumed that these are mere children's stories and not real tales.   But still...   Stories persist of monsters so large that they can stir the sea with their tails. Occasionally, fisherfolk will tell of creatures swimming beside or beneath their boats, so large that they could not see the end of the beasts. These tales are rarely believed.   But there are some Uclandians that hold stock in the old stories, saying that the Ollmhor Sea is so large, and so old, that surely there would be monsters older and bigger than most mortals could understand.   Proof remains to be found.
