Properties

Material Characteristics

Most specimens of Ythryst are no bigger than your palm. It is the color of sunshine, bright yellow, and highly translucent. When chipped, it has not-quite-sharp edges, and is remarkably light in weight.

Physical & Chemical Properties

If a piece of this mineral is held in the hand for any length of time, it will grow warm.   Due to its rarity, no one has attempted to change the color by immersing it in flames.

Geology & Geography

Thus far, Ythryst has only been found in Luingern Province and Banern Province, usually at higher elevations. No veins have yet been discovered, just irregular pockets of the mineral. Usually discovered quite by accident.

History & Usage

History

Some time ago in Uclandia's history, an observant Mage discovered that individuals who either gained their abilities through Athrumy or hereditary inheritances found their magical power increased or strengthened by the presence of Ythryst.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Ythryst is sought after for its magic-boosting benefits. In order to utilize the power of this mineral on a steady basis, it can most often be found carved into amulets, when it can be found at all. If a Mage is fortunate enough to own one of these items, they would be smart not to wear it on their person, seen by one and all. People have been killed for their Ythryst amulets.   To date, very few statues carved from Ythryst exist, and those that do are known to be in Marcrest Castle, under constant guard.
