Sir Roland Ilios

Sir Roland Ilios is Lord Raymond Ilios, Marquess of the Wild Reaches and Lord of Sentinel Fortress's nephew, a fearsome Katheroi paladin warrior, and the man who many thought would be the heir apparent to be the next Marquess of the Reaches and Lord of Sentinel Fortress. Lord Raymond and the Council of the Fortress instead have designed his younger sister, Dame Agnes Ilios as the heir apparent. Sir Roland clearly desires to be the next Lord of Sentinel Fortress, however, he is pious and loyal Katheroi and he has accepted, in his heart of hearts, that Mithras has a separate plan for him. The understands and believes that Council is the authoritative voice of Mithras. He lives by the old adage: "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need." Sir Roland has a fearsome anger when aroused, and the Council recognizes that this anger made him ill-suited to be represent the Fortress to the outside world or make sound military decisions. While it is widely viewed does not have the wisdom to make the important strategic decisions, once it is time to fight, he has the ability make the right decisions on the battle field and to instill great confidence and loyalty in his warriors. Careful consideration of the options often leads to worse decisions from him, but his spur of the moment actions that rely upon instinct and action with a sword in hand are generally correct.
