Carson's Homebrew Rules

Rules

Flashback

For 1-3 inspiration, a player can retcon something or “Flashback” to do a little reality manipulation. DM discretion is involved. The amount of inspiration the flashback will cost is determined by me or Obama if he is for some reason in attendance. Legendary Creatures leave scars If a creature has legendary actions, they will leave a cosmetic (does not impact gameplay) scar or mark upon dropping a player to 0 HP. This does not always happen, but will usually happen.

DM Death Saves

I roll your death saves

Campfire Rule

Whenever a campfire occurs, a player must tell a story from their PC’s past. The method of PC selection will most likely fluctuate.

Bonus Action Potion

You can use a bonus action instead of the rules as written action to drink potions. Giving someone else a potion is a full action.

Reroll 1 Health

When creating your character or leveling up, reroll 1’s unlimited times when rolling for HP.

AOE Attacks Huge Creatures

Creatures with the size huge and sizes larger than huge now attack 3/4/5 (depending on creature size) connected squares when using their “basic’ attacks.

Rule of Kuul

If a player wants to do something cool I will most likely let them. I tend to be quite rules lite and player favoring. However, there are always limits and I will not let people break my damn campaigns anymore. The crazier the thing you want to do, the larger the consequence. I.E. A Cleric bringing someone back from the dead without a spell or item may need to sacrifice Cleric Levels. This would be flavored as them giving up a portion of their divinity to revive their companion.

Lingering Injuries

The Electro Suite

If session time arrives and a player is late without notice, the Electro Suite will be played. The Electro Suite is an incredibly long song from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. At around 7 minutes, the beat drops incredibly hard for the second time. If the second beat drop arrives and the player is still unaccounted for, their character will be punished, usually by death.

Help Proficiency

In order to take the help action, the player needs to have proficiency in the skill they are helping with.

Feat at LVL 1

1/19/2023 From here on out, all Carson Campaigns will see the PC’s start with a feat during character creation.

Party Stealth

If one PC fucks up their still check, it auto fails the whole party stealth. Players can still choose to be individually stealthy, however, if the explicit choice is made to move and attempt stealth as a party. One guy stepping on a twig exposes everyone.

OOG Chatter
