Subtilis Mutatio

"Subtle Change," refers to the fact that people of this species never stay the same, well into adulthood they still change though it may be at a much slower pace than that of a newborn. Subtilis Mutatio or 'the changers' refer to a species of elf-like people who dominate the world of Ultimus, though they are often separated by racial or ethnic traits determined by where they were born.
From birth two things are made clear, the ears of a child will always reach further than the skull, and the eyes are inward tilted. As they grow older both traits change in a number of ways, the length, and shape of the ears are a good indicator of what climate they grew up in. Longer ears suggest a warm or tropical climate while shorter, more rounded ears hint at cold or wet climates. Eyes show how much light exposure they deal with, rounder eyes for darker times, and squinted or half-lidded suggest a lot of time in the daylight.
