Watership Beasts

Watership Beasts are a special race of water-based dragons who, despite having wings, cannot fly. Instead, they use their wings to control where they're going and, when there's a bunch of people on them, will expand their wings to hold everyone/everything. These gentle giants have smooth scales that can change color based on their temperature, well-being, time of day, and immediate surroundings. Along with their massive wings, Watership Beasts have huge spinal spikes with webbing between them, this is a perfect feature and it allows the beasts to keep stable and any riders can move the spikes to steer the beasts without hurting themselves or the beasts.   The Watership Beasts were only used by small bands of tribespeople along the eastern coast of Meta, but as people traveled from other regions over time they would bring back a couple beasts back home. This would lead to new races of these Watership beasts forming as a way to adapt to their environments, along with certain beasts being bred to enhance certain points like wingspan, overall length, how big they are, how fast they swim, and so on.   One of the greatest known uses of Watership Beasts come from tales of the great pirate organization Armada, who would trick rival pirate gangs to think they were drowning from afar by holding onto the ends of the spinal spikes while the beasts sunk underwater, and when the pirates would get closer the beasts would rise and cause waves to destabilize the ships. Then the ladies of Armada would attack the pirates from the sides and use the beasts to destroy everything.
