Ustalav

Ustalav was once a prosperous nation known as "the Jewel of the East". Ustalav lies along the eastern coast of Delia. It was ruled by a succession of cruel kings who persecuted anyone who did not follow their beliefs. The people were forced to worship demons and sacrifice children to appease the gods. Eventually, the king's cruelty led to his downfall, but the people continued to practice evil rituals. Their dark practices spread throughout the country, causing the population to dwindle until it reached only a few thousand.
In recent years, however, there have been signs of hope for the people of Ustalav. A new religion called the Church of Light has begun spreading across the land. Many of the old customs have been abandoned, and the people now try to live in peace. In fact, they've even stopped sacrificing children!   However, this newfound faith does not mean that the people of Ustalav have forgotten about their past. They still believe that their ancestors were blessed by the gods, and that they will be rewarded if they continue to worship them. As such, they still hold ceremonies in secret where they pray to their ancestors. They also keep some of the old traditions alive. For example, they still burn the bodies of those who die violently so that they can be reborn as demons.   Not everyone agrees with these practices, of course. Some say that the people of Ustalav should forget their past entirely and embrace the teachings of the Church of Light. Others argue that the people of Ustalav should never give up their ancient ways.
As you might expect, these two groups of people do not get along very well. There are frequent clashes between the two sides, but no matter what happens, both sides always end up dead.
