Mainland Continent

The mainland is a broadly diverse continent with a large mountain range spanning the Northern coast. It is mostly covered with forests, with south-western praries and a desert to the east. The northern forest, beyond the mountain range, is an evergreen and redwood forest, beyond which, lies an arid, temperate scrubland. Several smaller islands are seperated from the main continent by shallow, but wide inlets and bays. The southernmost islands tend to be the warmest, with one of them being largely bamboo and amaranth-like grain forests. Springs are common in the mountains, and small streams feed larger rivers that fan out into deltas, one in the North-East, on to the south, and two to the North-West.   There are are no signs of human life on the continents, and little sign of civilization. There does seem to be some sort of active volcanic processes occuring, particularly far to the North-west parts of the continent, where there are rampant small earthquakes and several miles of coast that is periodically shrouded in mist and noxious smoke.   Abundant fauna and flora can be found throughout the island, and are very similar to their earthen counterparts in most regards. It is notable that many large predators or grazers from earth seem to be missing, however. This is particularly notable at night, where one might expect to hear the howls of Coyotes or Wolves, and instead hears low and eerie trumpeting.

Climate

The Mainland overall is quite temperate in the northern region, ranging to tropical in the southern coastal areas. The North coast is typically quite dry, as it rests in the rainshadow of the mountains, and experiences very little rainfall each year. While the southern areas are warmer, they do typically follow the Cold-Warmer-Hot-Cooler seasonal cycle, just with higher average temperatures than is typical for temperate climates.
