Sylvester's Deck of Many Things

An Infernal and twisted tool that brings fortune and destruction. This deck of cards is an infamous item that caused one of the most world-defining events in all of the Material Plane. The deck was a gift from a powerful devil to a man named Sylvester in Weyland. To win the favor of the devil, he gifted individual cards to powerful allies and enemies to grant them great power or great misfortune respectively. Much of his and the deck's whereabouts and history is only spoken of with much of the details dying out as the years went on. Eventually the whole deck was reassembled and ended up in the hands of the Red Flower commander, Annabelle, who added it with her magic item collection. After her death, the deck ended up in the hands of Areya's heroes: Reeza, Clem, and Leon as well as a newfound ally by the name of Kyle.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The deck consists of twenty cards, each with a different effect ranging from horrible to wondrous. From drawing a number of cards, one can face death itself, be trapped within another dimension, cursed until a god intervenes, or even lose everything magical you own. The positive effects range from leveling up, gaining a massive amount of wealth, gaining the ability to erase a single event in history, or even acquire a wish or two. The magic of the deck appears to be Infernal by nature and thus the power comes from a devil of sorts. This means the deck's power, though quite grand, is limited in many ways.

Significance

The Moon card, which grants wishes to those who draw it, was drawn and used by Kyle to give everyone in the material plane one wish, resulting in the Day the Stars Fell.
