Hjalmar
counselor
The Dwarven founding counselor of Lacertillia, Hjalmar was known for his skill and knowledge as a builder, even foretelling the fate of the imperial navy. Straightforward and practical in nature, he rarely participated in the 'games' of the other counselors focusing instead on making decided projects a lasting reality, Hjalmar's way lasting throughout multiple ages.
History
Early life
Born to an enslaved clan of Dwarfs, Hjalmar spent his youth working on Phervian building projects. An assistant foreman at the age of fifty, The slave revolts broke out just sixteen years later, at some point in this period his clan broke their chains and fled east, while Hjalmar was overseeing the construction of a new machine to help with extreme heat. Breaking free himself he followed his clan east, gaining passage on The chainbreaker's fateful voyage.Lacertillian council
Selected as part of the first council due to his practical mind, Hjalmar used his limited magic to help set up an alarm system around the camp. While the other counselors discussed the plan for the new settlement, Hjalmar got to work building shelter for the population. As the council discussed new ideas, Hjalmar was always the one to go through how practical each idea actually was. By the end of forty-eight Rebel, however, he had removed himself from most council meetings, focusing on building works.Post council
Hjalmar was appointed chief architect and started on the defensible highway to the new fishing village. This meant he was out of the village when the hunters rioted, He was however the one who set up a trade to finally get iron into the settlement. Continuing with projects until his final years, Hjalmar constructed, at the request of the village, the monument to the council after all but himself had died. He also consulted on various stages of construction on other worldwide projects, including The grand temple of Akoom.Final century
Towards the end of 600 Rebel, Hjalmar declared he would be stepping back into a more supervisory role, consulting on projects. It was during this period he dismissed the Drakon class warship as a vanity project by the paladins stating, almost prophetically, they would easily set ablaze. It is said that on his eight-hundredth birthday while looking over the metropolis that Lacertillia had become, he sighed and declared his work done. He died less than two years later, in his bed.Father of the city
While he never married or bore children, a lot of Lacertillia consider him the father of the city itself due to the immense number of works and reworks with his name on them. Many great works are deliberately started on his birthday in tribute.I'll admit it's very pretty, not practical but pretty. Mean say all I'd have to do is start a medium fire anywhere and the whole ship is lost.An elderly Hjalmar looking over the new Drakon class warship
