Personal History
She was raised in a family with too many rules and too many children, and found the way to use the latter to avoid the implications of the former. But even when her own desires and childish goals often needed for her to break some rules and twist the others, that didn’t make her immune to the concepts of imposed boundaries and classes systems.
Even when she went to a college where those things had been abolished (yes, she is old enough to have been in a college) and understood the merits of the tolerance system, she never felt comfortable with the idea of studying and sharing a table with people that she thought was beneath her. The more clear it became that it was unavoidable, the more it upset her, but she learned to fake tolerance when she had no choice.
In secret, she clinged to the past ways of thinking just as she did with the old crafts and tools, even when she never formed part of the many groups that tried to prevent the changes. She knew that they were unable to work together and, as a result, too weak to succeed.
Instead of being run over by progress, she moved out of its way and took advantage of the new conditions of the world to work around the new rules and do whatever she wanted to. It was easy, because the very law said that nobody could stop her from doing that.
She started teaching others how to take what they wanted and use the very law to live lawless lives. It was a dangerous game, any of her students could become dangerous for her. So she made sure to learn from them more than they learnt from her.
The school, like everything else, has changed with time. But, unsurprisingly, she hasn’t. Not at all. She doesn’t even look a day older… well, that last part is to be expected, considering that she fears death and aging and knows more than she should about science and dark arts.
