Jade Bridge
Jade Bridge or 玉桥 (Yuqiao) is a Chinese private security and infrastructure development company. They are most known for their many infrastructural endeavors in the Kapteyn System.
The company was established in 2128, long before the first expedition to the Kapteyn system took place. Originally, Yuqiao was a semi-private company created by a member of the Chinese Communist Party to provide security at special events outside of China. As the tensions rose between countries, the company was not allowed to operate within the borders of foreign countries and their role was reduced to being bodyguards of the party members.
As the Chinese government expanded into space more and more, the company was repurposed again and became a completely private company in 2219. Despite its privatization, it remained extremely close to the Chinese government, usually accompanying national space operations.
A few years before the first expedition to Kapteyn, China took special interest in the system and a government funded research group, the Zhishi Foundation petitioned for a space telescope to be built around the super-earth, Kapteyn b. Their request was granted and the expedition began under the watchful eye of Jade Bridge.
Following the expedition, Jade Bridge had to expand its portfolio to include spacial and planetary construction as these were neccessary for the success of the operation. After the work on the space telescope stabilized, Yuqiao returned to their original purpose, which is security.
Although the company is famous for being in control of the Kapteyn system, it isn't the only place they operate in. Various space stations in the Solar and Alpha Centauri system hire them as guards and construction workers.
