Biodisks
Biodisks are used to store information on disks made of genetic material. They also involve a binary converter, which converts the bases (ATGC) to binary code (01, 10, 11, 00) Commercially available disks store between 1 and 16 zotabytes of data.
They were created so as to store data in a more compressed format, allowing for larger amounts of data to be stored in disks of the same physical size. Not only does base genetic code take up less space than transistors, but as there are binary numbers and four genetic bases, two numbers can be stored in the same base.
