Dusthead
Dusthead is a condition that is common on Mars, especially after sandstorms. It has been likened to Martian lockjaw, although there is no evidence that the two are related, plus Dusthead is less serious, despite being chronic.
Transmission & Vectors
Martian sand gets itself inside people and clogs up their respiratory and circulatory systems.
Causes
Martian sand, which is finer than most dust on Earth.
Symptoms
Suffers may experience hayfever like symptoms, irritability, a burning sensation when breathing, increased heart rate and headaches.
Treatment
Blood cleaning and transfusion can help flush the dust out of the circulatory system, vigarous coughing can loosen it in the lungs.
Prognosis
The sand will probably never leave entirely, but the condition can be improved.
Sequela
If it gets to the brain it can block off blood vessels causing a stroke.
Affected Groups
Martians with jobs which require a lot of time outside are at higher risk. Martians are obviously at more risk than non-Martians.
Prevention
Cleaning houses of dust, keeping streets clean (especially after dust storms), avoiding going out in sandstorms.
Epidemiology
Outbreaks often occur after sandstorms

Incidents have been reported since the 2020's.
