Vampires

Little is known for certain of the origins of vampires, at least by mortals. The first vampire lord is believed to have been born of a violent desecration of a maiden of Lissak by the Archdevil Borl. It is said that from her sprung a being of pure evil whose only desire was to consume. It is said that when a vampire drains their victim, the blood they consume is fed as tribute to Borl.
If the drained victim then accepts the blood of one of Borl's children they too will know the hunger of a vampire. Transforming into a beast of the night themselves. Though most of this is hearsay, while most don't doubt the existence of vampires it is rare for someone to have actually encountered one, at least that they know of.
