North Port

A bustling port town that marks the end of the safe trade routes for merchant ships. The towns folk often trade with the Sun Elves of Aubade and as such the town is rich in rare fruit and magic items. The town was the occasional target of Sahuagin, an aquatic race that preyed on weaker individuals. Most of the buildings are made out of stone work with the stone usual white or light pastel colours such as blue or yellow.   It has a large harbour and much of the towns revenue comes from trading fish and ferrying travellers around the waters of the continent. The main business in North Port is trade. The town has no factories and only enough farms to keep the towns inhabitants fed and the rest goes to trade. As such there are several shopping districts in the town and several unique stores. Half of the trade is made to merchant vessels and the other half is sent down in wagons that wind down into the continent, along safe trade routes, to trade for coin or other materials.   North port boasts fine blacksmiths, who pride themselves on improving items and weapons made at other locations, Magic item stores, which has some of the more rarer items of the world, and alchemist stores, that craft the finest potions in the region. The town grows rare fruit in orchids and also trade heavily with the Sun Elves of Aubade for rarer still fruit. A lot of trade to the Elves is metal, which the Elves seem unable to mine or have no interest in doing so.   Just outside the protection of the strong brick walls lies a shanty town, full of ragtag thrown together buildings. In here the poorer population eek out their lives. All have access to the water and the shanty town includes its own small quay for smaller vessels to dock and make whatever trade they can. Hidden away down between buildings and sometimes through holes in the walls lies the black market of Northport. Hidden in the shadow of the walls the shady dealers show off their wares and stolen goods, always one step away from being caught by the town guard. Whilst nothing dangerous has ever really happened, it is still a black mark of shame for the town that simply cannot scrub the market away completely. Once one organisation is shut down, another pops up a matter of months later to fill the vacuum left by its redessor.

Demographics

The town has a small shanty town to the south that sustains itself through trade and a secret black market.

Government

The town is governed by a meek human mayor but most people turn to the captain of the town guard, Lightfinger

Defences

Kings army have a medium presence in the town before they move south to hunt out any hidden enemy units. North port is the last safe trade point for leagues and is a staging point at times for the military to continue its crusade westwards. The military seems to have bought a boom in presence in the north and several small towns and villages seem to have gained confidence. The inhabitants make the long journeys to North Port now to trade instead of waiting for the trade wagons to roll through town.

Infrastructure

There is a general temple to almost all of the gods that citizens and travellers can pray at. There is also a small empty temple to the north of the town.

Assets

The Heavenly Bed, an inn run by Frederick and his wife Hilda   Spheres & Orbs - Magic item shop,   Ore Galore - blacksmiths

North Port was built thousands of years ago and retains the same look now as it did when it was first erected. Many believe it was one of the first landing spots for the first humans to arrive on Urth from across the North sea, in the days before the sea barrier appeared.
