Kalashor & Shalakor
From the primordial darkness at the advent of the Rift they came. Subtle and devious, but shy and wary. These primordials slithered into the webs of spiders by the abyss. They wrapped themselves into cocoons and slipped off the dead branches to the desolate ground below. Here they incubated and grew into their evil forms of shadow and black miasma. The cocoons turned black as they grew. Once hatched, they crawled out with spider-like appendages, and weaved dark robes and cloaks from their black shells. With their woven clothes they leapt up to the P.P.M..
During the darkness of night they scurried on their appendages, low to the ground. Behind them the ground blackened. As they crawled upon trees the leaves wilted. When they walked near waters they dried or grew disgusting algae. Any animal nearby fled, or began turning to ash. Onward they crawled, eventually going down into the earth through a crevice.
Once they reached the bottom they mated and began their malicious species. Hardly a child survived, for when they were delivered, they struggled then died. The only spawn that lived fled immediately upon being born. Together, Kalashor and Shalakor wandered the underdark, killing its Good fungi and fauna. Some scars of their journey are still seen as black, jagged streaks along walls and ceilings.
After thousands of years they made their way out of the darkness into the sun. Writhing, they formed a black mist to surround them. Any living thing caught in the miasma died instantly. The mist obscured them so no one could see their true form, though they still wreathed themselves in their evil cloaks.
It is said they were killed by the hero Klamash who used trickery and divine intervention to slay them both. Their brood still flitter around the world in deep crevices. Woe to any who stumble upon their lair, and more woe to any who live to tell a tale.
