The competition for Peche Docks

Founded on October 1st, 1914, Peche Docks is a shipbuilding company exclusively dedicated to the construction and update of Warships. It was originally thought to be a German-Yudonian company in WW1 but, as the coalition with Germany was cancelled, the company had to be put in good hands. Then, a competition was made, and the company would be given to the company with better results at building something new: A 78 meters long Destroyer. 7 local companies accepted, as they later called their ships with something related to the companies. Each company would then have a team of no more than 30 people to make all the stages and a timeline of 10 months to complete the entire challenge.

The competition

Rules

- No more than 3 meters longer or shorter than specified (Between 75 and 81 meters)

- Showing the project idea and explaining it before starting (to prevent one company to copy another)

- The ship had to be at least 40 knots fast with any propulsion method but steam

Stages

It would have 3 stages; design, build and try.

- Design: Each company had to make a very basic 3D model of the ship and document it to the public TV. (20 days long)

- Build: Each company would then have a period of 9 months to build it. (9 months long)

- Try: Each ship would then be launched into the sea and tested. The point system would be used from here. (10 days long, or more if needed)

Point system

When the competition had finished, each ship would be evaluated by a team of expert Navy Captains to then declare a champion. Each category would have to be evaluated from 1 (Failure) to 5 (Perfect). The company with the more points would win.

- Survivability; armor, stability

- Artillery; fire power, AA guns, turret statistics

- Torpedoes; (optional) range, precision

- Maneuverability; turn radius, speed

- Concealment; difficulty to spot from distance

- Aspect; at least a bit of beauty would be more than good from a soldier

Action

Seven companies took the challenge, being: Kraken manufacturing / Shilo co./ Plavit Dockyards / Bolt Yachts/ Batcher and Luje manufacture/ Daego National and Provenza Dockyards.

Final

After almost a year of waiting, the seven companies launched their ships with half of the country watching them. These were the final results:

[Ship / Average Points]

Kraken manf. YSS Octopus

Shilo co. YSS Shilo

Plavit dcky. YSS Citadel

Bolt Ya. YSS Sophya

B&L YSS Company

Daego nat. YSS National

Provenza Dockyard YSS Provenza

Finally, two companies ended in a draw, as they decided to join into a new one, Peche United (Bolt Yachts + Batcher and Luje manufacture). They received the old Peche Dockyard's goods and most of yards.   Later on, two other companies also decided to join into a new one, they were called Weshil Dockyards, as both were located in Weshil (Shilo co. + Daego National).   The ships were then bought by the Federal Navy of Yudonia and actually used, some as training ships or as museums, but others were actually used as Destroyers, with their original names. Those 7 vessels were the first modern warships completely designed and built in Yudonian territories.
