Pioneer's Stride

A true frontier town

Founding

A village settlement in the heart of Yenithmyr. In spirit, Pioneer's Stride has existed for hundreds of years, effectively existing as a small community of nomads who called themselves 'The Pioneers'. They wished to live on their own terms, away from the more stringent rules of the Theocratic government they found themselves under. They still worshipped the gods in their own way, but relied on each other for support.   After the founding of Farpoint in 301 P.S.E, some of the Pioneers felt it was time to find a permanent place to stay now that there would be protectors in the area. Many of the group were cautious to trust state-sanctioned assistance, but over the next few years the mercenaries of Farpoint earned their trust. In the summer of 303 P.S.E, the Pioneers finally settled in the north of Yenithmyr at the base of a cliff, nestled under the Scarlett Trees. Over time it became a beacon for other free spirits who wanted to live life on the frontier, but with the safety of community.

Strife through war

Pioneer's Stride was nearly abandoned at the turn of the 5th Century. In 398 P.S.E war broke out between Myreglyne and Darventh. A fortified settlement called Spyrhaven was created in the Scarlett Trees (a little close for the likings of the Pioneers) which would serve as a jump off point for this area of the border. During the war, Darventh Raiders bypassed Spyrhaven and attacked Pioneer's Stride, killing the leader at the time Baelgriff (Wood elf). In the winter of 399 P.S.E, a magical alchemical weapon was deployed (both sides denied responsibility) wiping out over half of the Scarlett Trees, destroying Spyrhaven, and rendering almost half of the border between Darventh and Myrglyne impassable. These events caused a minor exodus from Pioneer's Stride, leaving only the most dedicated Pioneers to soldier on. Over the next 50 years, people eventually returned and now Pioneer's Stride is faring well.

Pioneer's Hall

The main town hall where people gather for meetings, and where the towns leader Hearnald Swift (Elder Male Centaur) can be found.

The Bastion

The stronghold for the Pioneers' militia, which also serves as a resting point for travelling serves as a resting point for travelling mercs. It contains and armory, training areas, offices and dorms. Ran by a fierce minotaur Matron named Gortha.

Strider's Station

The trading post of the village. Handles all of the trade coming from Farpoint, The Shrine, Roothaven and beyond. Trade happens on behalf of the village, as well as with a few individual parties as well, but most of the individual trade happens in the markets near Pioneer's Hall. Ran by a Female halfing named Ginny Marwood – moved here around a year ago.

Rockroot Farm

The main provider of food for the town, and also a good export for the rest of the region. Rockroot farm really helped to keep the town self-sufficient. Run by Elderly Tortle called Bom Timble.

The Earnest Eagle

A Tavern ran by the Minir family, a family of Humans: Father – Cass, Mother – Demy, Eldest son – Drake, Middle daughter – Fawn, Younger daughter – Cammy. Was ran by an Aaracokra, but he left after hearing about some trouble with his people in Azkazan. The tavern was then renovated and expanded by Cass and his family in the last year. The kitchen was expanded, new rooms for people to stay in town were added, and a small stage for the eldest son Drake to play for everyone. Some people question where they got the funds to make such changes.

Mother Fen's School

The town's school. Ran by Mother Fen for the last 50 years in an effort to bring back people after the war.

Jehrut's Haven

A cul-de-sac where the residential buildings are. They are kept in one place so as to be easily defendable, and easy to alert everyone in the event of an attack. Named after the heroic mercenary Jehrut who defended the citizens from a monster attack shortly after the end of the war.

Saint Pollace's Parsonage

A cleric temple/hospital, built early on as the infrastructure of the village was being built. Named after the head cleric, a gnome named Pollace, helped construct the parsonage and saw to the healing of many. Was later taken over by a Half elf – Drema Mjurn.
