Aether crystals are naturally jagged, pointy, yet smooth. They are clear yet have a green to blue aurora-esque glow.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Aether crystals tend to be warm to the touch. Depending on the size of the vein there has been reports of aether crystals giving a low hum. Some say the hums almost sound like whispers.
Compounds
Aether Crystals, as it says in its name, is made of pure Aether. Aether is what researchers have theorized as the pure energy that's also known as magic and what others say is the "life blood" of Uvra.
Geology & Geography
Aether Crystals can be found naturally underground in deep cave systems close to the upper mantle called Aether veins, but there have been signs of them being found on the surface where there has been a huge cataclysmic events (ie. dragon battles, tactile shifts, etc.).
History & Usage
Discovery
The records of this discovery has been lost, though through-out time it has been a debate that it was between the elves or dwarves that discovered the aether crystals.
Everyday use
The use of the crystals have been used for enchanting small items, crafting staffs for mages. Before it became illegal, mana potions were a very popular item that was heavily produced.
Refinement
Smaller aether crystals can be refined into powder through a thorough and slow grinding process. This process allows enchanters to imbue basic abilities to small items such as seeing in the dark for normal humanoids.
Hazards
Powdered Aether crystals, if consumed, has shown after long constant dosages have caused a hallucinogenic condition called Isana's Song .
Distribution
Storage
Transporting Aether crystals are usually in wooden crates and straw for some packaging. When not being transported, most of these crystals are observed in the Andrestian University of Magic (AUM). There Mages and Artificers would study and develop theories and ideas for future uses of the crystals.
