Weapon Proficiencies
You can use (or try to use) any kind of weapon, regardless of proficiency. If you have proficiency, you get a bonus to accuracy and an extra perk. The Accuracy bonus is equal to 1 + half your level rounded down.
Shield. You can use most common one-handed weapons while using a shield.
Perks: You can use your reaction to do one of the following:
interpose your shield between yourself and a damaging AOE to take half damage
attempt to deflect an incoming melee attack by adding +2 to your Defense for that attack only
partially shield an ally within reach from a targeted melee or ranged attack, imposing disadvantaging on that attack roll at the cost of leaving yourself vulnerable (removing your shield bonus from your Defense) until your next turn begins
Dual Wielding. You can use a pair of the most common one-handed weapons, one in each hand.
Perk: You can use your bonus action to do one of the following:
ignore an target's Shield bonus (lowering their Defense for your attacks only for that turn)
make a single off-hand attack
Two-Handed. You can use common two-handed weapons like staves, polearms, greatswords, warhammers, and greataxes.
Perk: Your attacks have +5' of range, and you can choose to make a single attack against multiple adjacent enemies (rolling separately to try to hit each one). When rolling damage for these hits, subtract 1 harm from the total, since you're spreading out your damage amongst multiple targets.
Archery. You can use bows OR crossbows efficiently. (You must choose one.)
Perk (bows): You have a longer range of accuracy on your bow, and you can craft your own arrows as part of your downtime to replenish your supply.
Perk (crossbows): You can reload the crossbow as a free action and you don't suffer disadvantage when firing at a target in melee range.
Thrown. You can use throwing knives, shuriken, darts, light javelins, or slings with consistently good aim. (Choose two specific weapons that you're best at throwing.)
Perk: You can throw two weapons simultaneously, increasing your odds of striking your target even if they manage to block or dodge one. You can always locate and retrieve thrown weapons after combat, provided they were not destroyed.
Combustible. You can use mechanical weapons like hand-cannons or larger, stationary ballista.
Perk: You can reload a firearm as a free action and you don't suffer disadvantage when firing at a target within melee range.
