Gurma Colony

The people of Gurma Colony are all trade workers of some sort, specifically chosen to build the new world as some of the best in their related fields. Many come from generations of agriculture which will be the backbone of the colony as it will soon have to begin producing food on its own. Others professions include engineers, to keep the equipment working with minimal supplies, or tailors, to ensure that everyone is always clothed, as well as doctors, so that each person is in prime health while working. No person is here by accident and at the moment no deviant activity is tolerated. The local government keeps a strict hold on the workers under the promise that when the finish their task at hand, they will be rewarded with the honor of being the first citizens of a new world.

Demographics

The population is a mix of many different ethnicities and as such, none hold as a majority nor minority. However, there is a strong distinction in social and wealth class between the workers and the government officials.

Government

Local government follows the ultimate rule of the Imperial Government that rules Earth, but the Governor is allowed to carry weight in the representation of his citizens and communicate openly with the home government.

Defences

The settlement is naturally defended by the mountain range at the end of the valley, although there are no known threats on the planet to specifically defend from. In addition, the space station that is used as a transit to the planet's surface is equipped with high powered plasma cannons and a unit of soldiers trained in space combat.

Industry & Trade

No such industries yet exist.

Infrastructure

Since the colony is still in it's early conception, there is no determined infrastructure or economic system by which the people adhere to. All of those amenities are still being built, but sewage and garbage collection were among the first hurdles to be taken care of as to not risk unsanitary blights. All citizens are government employed as well and will have no use for money until cultivation of the settlement is completed. Until then, they do still trade each other with favors and excess rations.

Assets

All assets are government owned and mainly consist of farming equipment and facility management materials. Aside from the basics for living and working, the only other valuables are whatever each individual person decided to bring with them.

Guilds and Factions

The Empire on Earth is the only faction anyone pledges their allegiance to.

History

The colony has only existed for a few years, although the citizens are fairly familiar with each other as they spent an extra year on the space station before transferring down to the surface as they prepared for to begin colonization.

Architecture

The architecture is widely varied, as each colonist was allowed to decide the design of there own home. Because of this the houses range from Gothic motifs to Spanish villas to plantation homes.

Geography

A valley sits under the protection of a large mountain range at the edge of the ocean. From the mountains, a grand river rushes through the valley, supplying the key component necessary for the facilitation of life. On the ocean, the horizon extended beyond what the eye could grasp, with no islands or waterborne volcanoes near enough to obstruct the view. The salt waters were a crystal clear turquoise, while the fresh waters of the river had a darker hue. In the delta the waters combined the minerals stripped off the mountains with the salts and sediments of the sea to create a gorgeous prismatic expanse, which would glow in the night with a bright bio-luminescence. The vegetation grew short, likely because the animals devoured anything that might have lifted high enough to be called a tree. The colony, built by those who made first contact, was a collection of quickly fabricated metal homes, all created using replication technology that was able to erect buildings in mere minutes. Several plots of land were also cleared in an effort to test the soil's ability to grow vegetation from Earth.

Natural Resources

The mountains nearby have been found to have large amounts of metal in them, but the resources of the area are less important than it's prominent location for extending outward to the rest of the planet.
