Accomplishments & Achievements
High King Eormund rose to power during a time of great turmoil in the kingdom. The border of Quetxhotl and Imperial Averon marked a site of endless unrest and perpetual violence due to generational conflict. For centuries, sons would take up arms to avenge their fathers, often under mercenary banners, sowing the seeds for future vengeance and bloodshed. While all-out war was typically avoided, roiling unrest was near constant. Periods of peace between the two nations would exist for a few years of a time at best. Arthas dedicated his early life to reigning in errant knights, punishing warmongers, and sowing peace in the southeast. As of the turn of year 1021, the Commonwealth has enjoyed its longest period of peace between the nations in centuries, thanks in no small part to Arthas, the Olive King.
Failures & Embarrassments
Beloved by the people, the failures of the Olive King are few and fleeting, at least in the public eye. However, in pursuit of peace in the South, High King Eormund may have stoked the flames of a coming war. A longtime ally of the Quetxhotlan people, the Republic of Szavonnia is no friend of the Imperator. As of late, chaos and unrest push the Szavonnian desert toward the boiling point. The Republic's new Censor, Natasha Estellian, espouses rhetoric toward the Imperator's presence in the Ixtazan Jungle that radicalizes the populace. As protests threatened to devolve into riots, the High King has diverted significant sums of gold in the hopes of keeping the peace. In doing so, the King had all but emptied the royal treasury. With few other options, Arthas turned toward the various guilds of Baskhaven for aid; in exchange for financial assistance, the wealthiest guildmasters within the city were given the opportunity to "buy into" the nobility. The decision has since drawn the ire of some of the most powerful figures within the Commonwealth. In his desparation to quell unrest in foreign lands, High King Eormund may have sown the seeds of it in his own.
