Mammoth
The largest known animal to have been domesticated and bred for food or other purposes, for most Valinians, the mammoth is the largest land animal they will ever see. Mostly found on Iosse, or Cleoss, a fully grown mammoth can be over 10 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh as much as 6-8 tons. Their bodies are covered in thick, shaggy fur, which helps them survive in cold climates. They have a long, curved trunk, like an elephant, which they use to grab food and other objects.
One of the most distinctive features of a mammoth is its long, curved tusks. These are actually elongated incisors, and they can grow to be over 10 feet long. Mammoths use their tusks for many purposes, including digging for food, fighting off predators, and even scraping ice and snow from the ground.
Overall, a mammoth looks somewhat similar to an elephant, but with some key differences. They are much larger and hairier than modern elephants, and their tusks are much longer and more curved.
