Pirate

A pirate is an individual that commits piracy. Piracy is when burglary is committed in bodies of water. Piracy has existed as long as civilizations have been seafaring - indeed before that in cases of river or lake piracy. Pirates can be ex-naval officers defecting after the end of the war making pirates especially dangerous in some areas as pirate ships are often war ships manned by trained officers. Piracy from beneath commited by acquatic creatures can be a particular danger for the unwary and many merchant fleets pay for "protection" from triton or merfolk in established shipping lanes.
