Technologists are superlative innovators, masters of unleashing "magic" in commonplace items. What many see as their magic, they view as science - a complicated system that has to be deciphered and managed. Technologists create magical artifacts by channeling arcane power through tools. A technologist may employ alchemist's materials to make a powerful elixir, calligrapher's supplies to engrave a powerful symbol on an ally's armor, or tinker's equipment to make a temporary charm to reproduce a spell effect. Technologists' "magic" is based on their tools and abilities.
Arcane magic has thus been tamed as a type of science and employed across civilization in portions of Valine. In some parts of the globe, the ability to uncover the magic in items is seen as a rare intuitive gift comparable to that of a sorcerer. Technologists represent this inquiry of the region between science and technology everywhere they appear. Valine's most astounding undertakings can continue thanks to their understanding of magical devices and ability to infuse ordinary materials with magic.
Many lives have been saved as a result of daring innovators' ideas, but many more have been lost as a result of the catastrophic carnage unleashed by their products.
Discovering a new metal or a source of elemental energy thrills a technologist like nothing else. New innovations and unexpected discoveries elicit the most excitement among magicians. Instead of iterating on existing designs, technologists who want to build a name for themselves must innovate and create something new.
Technologists are pushed to become explorers by their need for novelty. The main transport routes and populous areas of Valine have been studied for a long time. As a result, technologists travel to the edges of society in the hopes of achieving the next big breakthrough in obscure study.
