Tiefling
The tiefling's lot is to be met with glances and murmurs, to be subjected to assault and insult on the street, and to see suspicion and terror in everyone's eyes. To add insult to injury, tieflings know that this is because after a sexual encounter with Ades the Mad, a member of their species birthed demons into the world. The belief that tieflings were created from demons has grown over time as a result of disinformation and tales. Contrary to popular belief, this is not the case. Because Bulir the Envious, the first demon, modeled himself like his mother, certain demons resemble tieflings. Regardless, the world's perception of tieflings is the outcome of an ancient transgression for which they, their offspring, and their children's descendants will be held responsible forever.
Tieflings have horns that can be curled like a ram's, straight and tall like a gazelle's, or spiral upward like an antelope's. When they are agitated or nervous, their thick tails, which may be four to five feet long, whip or coil around their legs. Their canine teeth are extremely pointed, and their eyes are solid black, red, white, silver, or gold in color, with no sclera or pupil visible. Their skin tones span from light to dark, with a few hues of red thrown in for good measure. Their hair is generally dark, ranging from black or brown to dark crimson, blue, or purple, and cascades down from behind their horns.
Tieflings live in tiny groups mainly in human cities and towns, typically in the toughest parts of town, where they grow up to be con artists, thieves, or criminal lords. They may live in enclaves alongside other minorities, where they are regarded with more respect.
Tieflings understand that they must forge their own path in the world and that they must be powerful in order to live. They are wary of anybody claiming to be a friend, but when a tiefling's companions demonstrate that they trust him or her, the tiefling learns to trust them as well. And once a tiefling has shown someone loyalty, the tiefling becomes a lifelong friend or ally.
