Ashallan Hunting Hound

The Ashallan Hunting Hound is a breed of domesticated dog, native to The Kingdom of Ashalla. Renowned for its exceptional sense of hearing and smell, fleetness of foot, and unwavering loyalty to its masters, the breed has been used for hunting purposes for centuries. Once a more commonplace working animal, the breed has recently become somewhat of a symbol of status among the numerous members of the Ashallan aristocracy, used in their recreational game hunts to great effect.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Quadrapedal carnivorous canine mammal, possessing a tail. Muscular and skeletal system geared towards chasing down prey.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

As with other breeds of dog, the Ashallan Hunting Hound's senses include vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, as well as sensitivity to Altea's magnetic field.   Visually, while their acuity is less than that of a human, their sensitivity to objects in motion is much greater. They may perceive further into the ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum than humans do, although their sensitivity to the infrared range of the spectrum is less.   The range of hearing of the Hound is much greater than that of a human. They are able to detect sounds far below and above the limits of the human ear, and can pinpoint a sound's direction much faster than a human, as well as detect sounds from much greater distances.   Arguably the primary sense of the Ashallan Hunting Hound (as with all Dogs) is their sense of smell. Estimated to be about forty times stronger than the human sense of smell, the air around the hound is constantly being sampled for information.
