Corvette

The smallest of the classes of ship operated by the navies of The Kingdom of Vallanna and The Kingdom of Ashalla, the Corvette classes is employed for reconnaissance and fast pursuit, as well as protection of shipping lanes.
Due to their smaller size, Corvettes are usually commanded by an officer of Lieutenant-Commander rank, rather than a full Captain. The crew complement can range from between 65 to 120 men, dependent on the ship's size and assignment.

Propulsion

Corvettes are typically double-masted, propelled by the power of the wind.

Weapons & Armament

Corvettes carry an armament of between 10 and 18 cannons, depending on their size and design.

Armor and defense

Each corvette will carry a small complement of marines, charged with both defending the ship in case of a boarding action, carrying out boarding actions of their own, and conducting security duties for any shore parties. Typically, due to the small overall crew complement of the Corvette class and the relatively small proportion of marines among this complement, during such a defensive boarding action, regular sailors will also take up arms in defense of the ship, if they are able.
