Sapphire Champion

Granted to the winner of the Sapphire Tournament, the highly-sought-after title of Sapphire Champion is a rare honour indeed. Gained by only the strongest and most valiant of champions, it is a title afforded great honour amongst all the peoples of The Kingdom of Vallanna, and beyond - a sign that the individual was triumphant at the most prestigious of gatherings of warriors in the lands.
As with all competitive titles awarded at the Great Exhibition, those who earn the honour will find many doors are opened for them. They join the ranks of the most sought-after of heroes, having proven their valour on the grandest stage of all, in front of all of the most influential members of Vallannan society. Aside from offers of work, businesses and powerful individuals alike will court the involvement of the champion in their interests, chasing the inherent legitimacy that associating with the champion implies.
A secondary honour, one which for many is their true goal in fighting for victory in the Tournament, is that with the bestowment of the title, the winner is also made a knight of the realm, by the monarch, immediately raising their status within society.

The Sapphire Tournament

Considered by many to be the main event of the Grand Exhibition of Vallanna - the largest festival and celebration of all that Vallanna has to offer, held but once per decade on the outskirts of Valliné - the Sapphire Tournament is a contest of valour and combat between the strongest warriors in Vallanna and beyond. There can be only one winner - crowned the Sapphire Champion by the reigning monarch themselves.
Anyone may enter the Sapphire Tournament, although in practice, the vast majority of entrants are professional adventurers, mercenaries, knights and wandering heroes of all persuasions. Some train for a lifetime to compete in the Tournament, and still fall short of their goal of attaining the ultimate glory.
