The Gem Of Meilar

A spell-focus gem, once belonging to the wizard Meilar, who fought to protect the people of the village of Erivale during the Demon War.
The gem itself is formed of a deep purple amethyst from the northern Amethyst Isles; well known as a source highly-enriched magical materials. The gem has been encased in a custom-made framework of golden struts. These were once attached to a chain that was worn around Meilar's neck, but are no longer.
Meilar embued in the gem a perpetual charge of the Dimension Door spell, which he was able to cast once per day, through the gem.
Following Meilar's death, the gem was one of two relics of the wizard kept under the protection of the Temple of Chauntea in Erivale - the very temple that Meilar had fought so hard to protect.
During 1307 AoU, the gem was stolen from the Erivale temple by the Cult Of The Bleeding Eye. See Also - The Theft Of Meilar's Relics.

Significance

Historical artefact - Significant to the people of Erivale, and kept on display in the Temple of Chauntea, along with Meilar's broken staff.
