Claude Garnier

(a.k.a. The Noose)

In the Public Eye

Claude "the Noose" Garnier is a menace to Drunan society. He is wanted in six districts of Druna, as well as overseas in Torelia, for a loose string of murders that are allegedly tied to his name. Each victim, 5 in all, were found strangled to death with nooses around their necks, although many believe that the nooses were added for dramatic effect postmortem. Law enforcement officials in Druna have yet to get a hold of this slippery criminal, yet Drunan citizens claim that they've seen him.
I was minding my own business, on my way home at two o'clock in the morning from the -- uh -- a lovely evening out, when I seen him with my own two eyes! Course, I didn't know until after the fact, otherwise I woulda stopped him. It was 'round the corner from Ashwood Estate. He was tall as a house, hands big enough to knock you out in a single blow, carrying a rope. He was making his way down Rowan Street. The next morning, they reported the Ashwood murder, and I bonked myself real good on the noggin. I shoulda known.

The Real Claude

Unbeknownst to Drunan society and the necromancers who are shaking in their boots at night, Claude Garnier is far from "tall as a house." Garnier is a false last name created by a Freesoul afflicted by Noumenatism. He awoke one night, suddenly self-aware and floating of his own accord, in the middle of being transported by train to his next master. The floating was the scarier part, as he soon discovered that he was embodied in a shrunken head, and Claude was the only name given to him by his former master.   He escaped from the train and made his way to the nearest settlement he could find. The rest of his story is his alone to tell as he see fit, for he quickly emerged as a mysterious criminal mastermind with a taste for blood and no hands of his own to take blood with. Though he possesses residual psionic powers (which he is still working on understanding), he isn't exactly capable of murder by strangulation. He prefers to have others do his bidding. The underground criminal network (loosely connected, of course), knows his name as someone worth their salt if you want to get a job done. His real motives are unknown, but someone worthy of his time and respect might get a taste of his wisdom.

An Honorable Alliance

When Claude meets Beau Knee, the latter does not immediately strike him as someone who has what it takes to survive on the streets, but Claude's interest is piqued by his future companion's story. Together, they embark on a daring adventure to send some necromancer heads rolling.

So he uses his psionic powers to possess other skeletons? I'm a little confused, but am very interested in hearing more.

Great question!! I left that part up in the air, since I haven't quite decided whether he possesses others or if he's just the shrunken head equivalent of a mafia boss. :( More to come!!
