Valorian Spear

A Valorian Spear is approximately three inches long, and can be worn as a pendant or pin. These act as proof that one is a Valorian Knight in good standing, and are provided to all knights upon their graduation from training. It is prohibited for a Valorian Spear to be made for, sold to, traded to, or worn by anyone who is not a knight.

Manufacturing process

The spears are cast from common molds, ensuring that they are identical. The Jewelers Table obeys their clients' strict mandate on producing them only for knights--any Jeweler caught distributing spears except directly to the Valorian Temple faces not only legal repercussions, but will also be cast out of the guild and banned from practicing their trade.

Significance

The stylized spear was developed early in the order's history, when it was embroidered on the Templars' tabards. As the order grew, and uniforms were abandoned, the sigil was somewhat re-simplified, and commissioned as jewelry--still an identifying mark, but more robust to wear into combat or the field, and easier to control the distribution of as well.

Now, only the highest-ranking knights bear an embroidered version (now on a sash coordinating with their Flight color), and the standard Valorian Spear is a well-recognized badge of honor. Silver is given to the rank-and-file, while a gold spear signifies a Wing commander.
