Little more than a middleman, Rampton drives a hard bargain selling things that are certainly magical, even if he and the purchaser have no idea what they do.
When people come into possession of an unidentified magical item, Magically Mundane Mysteries is the place to go: in lieu of paying someone to identify what could be a useless item, Rampton will purchase it from them at a fraction of the price.
Later, instead of paying to identify it himself, Rampton will hold onto the object and sell it at the next chance he gets. His modus operandi is to scare people into surrendering their probably cursed item to him so they don't befall any of its downsides. Then, the next person to come by the shop will be offered to buy the exact same item, under the guise of it possessing limitless magical capabilities!
In short, Rampton is the most profitable "used-carriage salesman" in the bazaar.
