The Grand Temple to the Blind Mage sits at the center of Rekkert. It's a large complex with a temple, housing for the various clergy, a hospital, a school, and an orphanage. There are smaller shrines dotted around the complex for people who seek private devotion, and a separate chapel is for the monastics to pray at hours when the temple is generally open to the public. It's common for people to come and go at all hours, and anyone who needs rest and reprieve is welcome. A guest house is available for free to visitors to the city, but there are strict curfews, and food needs to be obtained elsewhere. Many travellers still prefer to go to inns around the city for privacy and more comfortable lodging.   The temple is run by the Viksteras, a holy order of Kernians who dedicated their lives to the Blind Mage. Besides maintaining the temple and assisting lay people with the proper rites and rituals associated with the Blind Mage, they also operate the hospital. Herbalism and alchemy are commonly practiced, and the Viksteras have special gardens to grow the herbs they need. The hospital is funded by donations and subsidies from the city.   The orphanage provides most of the new members of the Viksteras who begin working in the kitchens and as cleaning staff while they learn how to dedicate themselves to the Blind Mage. Those with magical aptitude are trained to use their abilities, and some later go on to travel and spread the Blind Mage's teachings around Kos.   The interior of the temple contains tall columns with a statue of the Blind Mage at the center. There are benches around the walls, and it's acceptable to sit on the floor and rest for awhile or take a nap. Behind the main statue, there's a stone lined pond where people buy and place offerings to the goddess.   Near the back of the complex, there's a small shrine to the Bear King. This was mandated by the city due to the Bear King's overall influence throughout Dutan. It's still meticulously cared for, but few people visit it. The presence of the shrine remains a sore point between the Viksteras and the city despite an otherwise harmonious relationship.
